James Browns kids legally challenge his will

Late soul singer James Browns five kids are legally challenging their fathers will, which largely left them out of the singers estate.

London, Dec 31 : Late soul singer James Brown's five kids are legally challenging their father's will, which largely left them out of the singer's estate.

Brown, who died from pneumonia on Christmas Day 2006, left the bulk of his estate to trusts set up to educate his grandchildren and for underprivileged kids.

In court documents filed recently, the children claim that their father's long-time advisers had convinced the singer to create the trusts so the advisers themselves could profit from managing it.

However, one of the advisors, Buddy Dallas, denied the allegations.

"No-one told James Brown what to do," BBC quoted Dallas, as saying.

He further said that if he had wanted to use his influence for financial gain, "I would have just influenced him to give me something."

The children's attorney, Louis Levenson, said that the kids discovered earlier wills drafted by their father which cast doubt on whether he wanted most of his money left to charity.

"There was sporadic indication that Mr Brown intended to benefit some charities, but the circumstances surrounding the making of these documents have always been clouded in mystery," he said.

The kids are challenging the will in Aiken County Probate Court, South Carolina.
