Richard and Judy effect set to boost books sales

Sales of autobiographies by Dame Helen Mirren, Sharon Osbourne and Russell Brand are set to shoot up as they have been selected by This Mornings celebrity couple hosts Richard and Judy Madeley for their Christmas Book special.

London, Dec 3 : Sales of autobiographies by Dame Helen Mirren, Sharon Osbourne and Russell Brand are set to shoot up as they have been selected by 'This Morning's' celebrity couple hosts Richard and Judy Madeley for their Christmas Book special.

The Christmas special owes its parenting to the pair's Book Club and Summer Read formats, which have been acknowledged for boosting book sales by 3,000 percent.

The Book Club features literature by new and unknown writers reviewing one book each week.

The couple has also picked cookery books by chefs Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein and River Cottage star Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for the Christmas Read.

"We've uncovered a title for everyone to sit back with as the New Year lull sets in," The Daily Snack quoted Richard Madeley, as saying.

Judy Finnigan added: "The Christmas Book special is all about unearthing books that appeal to everyone in the family, and this year's shortlist already has Richard and I arguing over which one we'll read first."

The couple declared earlier this year that they will be quitting their channel 4 teatime show 'Richard and Judy'.

The selected titles are:

Celebrity Autobiography: Russell Brand: My Booky Wook; Sharon Osbourne: Survivor: My Story - The Next Chapter; Ronnie Wood: Ronnie: The Autobiography; Helen Mirren: In the Frame: My Life in Words and Pictures.

Cookery Books: The River Cottage Fish Book, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Nick Fisher; Jamie At Home, Jamie Oliver; Holiday, Bill Granger; Mediterranean Escapes, Rick Stein; Moro East, Sam and Sam Clark.

Coffee Table: Outdoors, Diarmuid Gavin and Terence Conran; Vogue Covers, edited by Robin Derrek and Robin Muir; Hawkes' Eye View: British Isles, Jason Hawkes; Let me in, Mario Testino; Make The Most of Your Time on Earth - A Rough Guide to the World: 1000 Ultimate Travel Experiences, Rough Guides.

Stocking Filler: Things I Wish My Mother Had Told Me - Lessons in Grace and Elegance, Lucia Van Der Post; Earth: A Visitor's Guide Weird, Strange, Bizarre and True, Ian Harrison; The Pub Landlord's Book of British Common Sense, Al Murray; Room At The Inn, edited by David Hancock; Don't Arm Wrestle A Pirate, Dave Skinner and Henry Paker.
