Glenn Close claims her Fatal Attraction bunny-boiler role saved marriages

Actress Glenn Close believes that her bunny-boiler character in Fatal Attraction has helped save marriages.

London, Dec 29 : Actress Glenn Close believes that her 'bunny-boiler' character in 'Fatal Attraction' has helped save marriages.

Close, who starred as Michael Douglas' mistress turned stalker in the 1987 movie, said that the result of the actor's infidelity in the drama is so frightening that it has put partners off walking out on each other.

"That movie struck a very, very raw nerve. Men still come up to me and say: 'You scared the s*** outta me. You saved my marriage,'" The Sun quoted her, as telling Radio Times.

However, she added that the character was not appreciated by feminists when the film was released.

"At the time, feminists hated the movie, and that was shocking to me," she said.

"They felt they'd been betrayed because it was a single, working woman who was supposed to be the source of all evil. But now Alex (Close's character) is considered a heroine," she added.

Close played psychotic Alex Forrest in the film, a single woman who stalks a married man following a one-night stand.
