Amy Winehouse has been summoned to appear in a Norway court over a marijuana possession charge.
Washington, Dec 28 : Amy Winehouse has been summoned to appear in a Norway court over a marijuana possession charge.
According to Bergen police spokeswoman, Liv Karlsen, the 24-year-old singer must appear in person to appeal a fine for marijuana possession, stemming from an October arrest.
"I can confirm that she must appear in court. If one appeals a conviction, it's the rule that one has to appear in person, so this is not surprising," People quoted Karlsen, as saying.
Winehouse and her hubby Blake Fielder-Civil were arrested in Norway on Oct.18 and held overnight on charges of illegal drug possession.
However, the couple was released the next day after paying a fine.
Winehouse later claimed that she had been tricked into signing papers agreeing to pay the fine, which in Norway is equivalent to pleading guilty.
However, according to cops, the singer was helped by English translators and knew what she was signing.
Winehouse's attorney has said that a conviction could damage the singer's career by making it more difficult for her to get work in the U.S.
