London, December 28 : A Judge presiding over the hearing on a dispute involving Sir Sean Connery's New York house has ordered the two parties to end the feud out of court, besides barring them from filing further lawsuits without her permission.
State Supreme Court Justice Marcy Friedman has dismissed most of the legal claims made by the Connerys and Dr. Burton Sultan, the other party to dispute.
Both sides have been arguing for years over renovations carried out by Connery and his family, since his stepson Stephane bought the upper two floors of the block in 1998.
Stephane and his wife Tania moved out of the apartment in April 2001, and the former James Bond star has been in occupation of the two floors since then.
Dr Sultan's contention was that the renovations subjected his family to noise, fumes, leaks and rats.
He claimed that it all was damaging their home and ruining their notable collection of Victorian and early 20th-century wicker furniture.
Justice Friedman urged the two parties to resolve their differences outside the courtroom.
"Regrettably, both parties to this dispute have engaged in a 'slash-and-burn' litigation strategy," the Scotsman quoted her as saying in a strongly worded ruling.
She even slapped a fine of 1,000 dollars on Dr Sultan for repeated filing of lawsuits on issues on which she had already ruled against him.
