Comedian Robert Schimmel had only one question in his mind during his gruelling battle with cancer - whether or not hell ever have sex.
New York, Dec 27 : Comedian Robert Schimmel had only one question in his mind during his gruelling battle with cancer - whether or not he'll ever have sex.
Bronx-born Schimmel has explained all his experiences and thoughts he had during his stay at the hospital for the disease's treatment in his upcoming memoir 'Cancer on $5 a Day'.
"Lying in bed after an exhausting hour of vomiting . . . I [had] a disturbing thought: Am I ever gonna get laid again?" the New York Post quoted him, as writing in the book.
Schimmel's craving for one final sexual experience before possibly dying became so strong that he went into frenzy when a female patient was wheeled up next to him at his clinic.
"I [said] to myself, 'Boy, I'd love to jump all over her. I have no idea what she's there for. She could have AIDS, hepatitis C, syphilis, and gonorrhea: the STD combo plate. I don't care. She's female, she's breathing," Schimmel wrote.
"Feeling horny is life-affirming . . . Without sex, where does that leave us? Spending the rest of our lives photographing butterflies and picking up seashells?" he added.
The book is due out in March from DaCapo.
