American singer Billy Joels anti-Iraq War anthem Christmas in Fallujah has angered some of his fans.
New York, December 25 : American singer Billy Joel's anti-Iraq War anthem 'Christmas in Fallujah' has angered some of his fans.
The reason for this turn off is said to be people's belief that the song is anti-America.
According to the New York Post, the song begins with the words: "It's evening in the desert/ I'm tired and I'm cold/ But I am just a soldier/ I do what I am told/ We came with the crusaders/ To save the Holy Land/ It's Christmas in Fallujah/ And no one gives a damn."
Another verse begins: "We came to bring these people freedom/ We came to fight the infidel/ There is no justice in the desert/ Because there is no God in hell."
'Long Island' singer Cass Dillon, who was given the song to record by Joel, revealed that WOR Radio host Steve Malzberg had disapproved the song as "anti-military".
Dillon, however, said that the song was inspired by what the troops had themselves told Joel.
"The whole song was inspired by the troops, what they told Billy in their letter and what they told him face to face," Dillon said.
