When Shirley MacLaine wiped the smile off Kate Hudsons face

Oscar-winner Shirley MacLaine reportedly caused the smile on actress Kate Hudsons face to disappear recently, by talking about how terrible the year 2007 has been for the latter.

New York, December 24 : Oscar-winner Shirley MacLaine reportedly caused the smile on actress Kate Hudson's face to disappear recently, by talking about how 'terrible' the year 2007 has been for the latter.

Sources have revealed that it all occurred at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, where MacLaine was holding court backstage during an event related to Movies Rock.

According to them, Hudson came over to pay her respects to a group of Hollywood stars that included Harrison Ford, Quentin Tarantino, and Josh Duhamel.

However, she was discomforted by MacLaine there, said a source.

"When Shirley saw her, she stood up and embraced her, very seriously asking, 'Are you all right? You have had a terrible year,'" the New York Daily News quoted the source as saying.

"Then, turning to the group, she went on: 'She's had a terrible year, a divorce and then ... Owen (Wilson). How's Owen?'" the source added.

In response to MacLaine's question, according to the source, Hudson politely replied: "'Everyone's fine. I'll leave you to it,' and left the greenroom."
