Rachel Nichols and Byung-hun Lee will be joining Sienna Miller in G.I Joe.

Melbourne, Dec 20 : Rachel Nichols and Byung-hun Lee will be joining Sienna Miller in 'G.I Joe'.

Nichols, best known for her work on action-centric series' like "Alias" and "The Inside", has been cast as Scarlett in the pic, while Lee takes on the role of Storm Shadow.

Shadow, according to the cartoon's history, has "dark and complex history who is one of the most popular and enigmatic characters of the GI JOE universe. According to GI JOE lore, Storm Shadow was trained by the same Ninja master as Snake Eyes, a member of the elite GI JOE team, but now fights against him."

Scarlett is described as "one of the original members of the GI JOE team, she is skilled in martial arts and hand-to-hand combat and specializes in counter-intelligence," reports Moviehole.

The live-action film based on the Hasbro toys, comicbook and TV series will be directed by Stephen Sommers.

The story of the film is set at Brussels-based GIJOE, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity.

It revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer.

The film is scheduled to release on Aug. 7, 2009.
