Celine Dion bids emotional adieu to Las Vegas

Pop queen Celine Dions long-running Las Vegas show came to an emotional end after running for almost five-years.

Washington, Dec 17 : Pop queen Celine Dion's long-running Las Vegas show came to an emotional end after running for almost five-years.

The show ended with her final performance of "A New Day" at Caesars Palace with a tear and a rose given to her by son Rene Charles.

The 39-year-old singer was emotional all through the night, shedding tears following "My Heart Will Go On," and speaking candidly to the crowd in person and via video.

"It's hard to believe that we've come to an end," People magazine quoted her, as saying.

She explained that motherhood was her first priority and that's the reason of her decision to end her run.

"It's a pleasure to perform for you, but I'm extremely passionate to be a mother," she said.

Dion confessed in a speech that ran before the show began, that she actually wanted to end the show when her son Rene Charles was born.

"I wanted to be more successful as a mother than as a singer," she said.

"It was a wonderful adventure... It was an emotional night. It was a wonderful adventure," said Dion after her final performance as a headliner in Vegas,

Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, and her 7-year-old came on stage to embrace her after her last number.

"A New Day" has grossed more than $400 million ever since her show opened in March 2003.

After Dion's departure from Caesars, Bette Midler, will begin her residency on with "The Showgirl Must Go On."
