London, Dec 16 : British actor Rupert Everett has launched a scathing attack at actor George Clooney, describing him as "not the brightest spark on the boulevard."
In a recent interview with The Independent, the 48-year-old said that Clooney's most successful Ocean's films are "a cancer to world culture".
"Clooney thinks that, provided he does films which are politically committed, he's allowed to do Ocean's 11, 12 and 13. But the Ocean's movies are a cancer to world culture. They're destroying us," Times Online quoted him, as saying.
"People in America can't think about Iraq now - all they care about is Jennifer Lopez's bottom. We are responsible for the blob-i-sation of the world by entertainment.
"[Clooney] is not the brightest spark on the boulevard. He'll be president one day. Mark my words, if he's straight, he'll be president," he added.
Everett also attacked Hollywood legends Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, branding them "tragic parodies" of the icons they once were.
The actor insisted that the film industry has deteriorated into petty, celebrity-obsessed "trash," and blames the bigwigs for keeping up the trend.
"De Niro, (Robert) Redford, (Diane) Keaton, (Woody) Allen, Pacino they're all just tragic parodies of themselves. Al Pacino looks like a mad old freak now. I say give it a rest, or go and do some serious stuff," he said.
