Dis gowns to go under the hammer at eBay

Four of Princess Dianas gowns are set to go under the hammer on eBay to mark her tenth death anniversary.

Washington, Aug 9 : Four of Princess Diana's gowns are set to go under the hammer on eBay to mark her tenth death anniversary.

The gowns had been bought by WE TV network at a Christie's auction in New York back in 1997, and it now plans to sell the ensembles on the auction website from Sunday, August 12, onwards.

Among the dresses is a pale-blue silk chiffon evening dress that Diana wore for the 1987 Cannes Film Festival and at the London opening of Miss Saigon two years later in 1989.

Kim Martin, general manager of WE TV, revealed that the bidding for the gowns would start at 300,000 dollars, and that all proceeds would go to charity, reports the New York Daily News.

"Princess Diana is one of the most beloved icons of the 20th century, not only because of her beautiful style but also her role as a mother and her dedication to charity," Contactmusic quoted her, as telling the paper.

August 31 this year marks the Princess' tenth death anniversary.

Her sons, William and Harry, are holding a memorial service for her that will be held in the Guards Chapel at Wellington Barracks in London.
