Anne Hathaway took private tuitions from none other than Julie Walters and Maggie Smith to perfect her British accent for new movie, Becoming Jane.
Washington, August 9 : Anne Hathaway took private tuitions from none other than Julie Walters and Maggie Smith to perfect her British accent for new movie, Becoming Jane.
The Princess Diaries star recently revealed that she feared her Americanised tone to portray famous English novelist Jane Austen would be mocked.
Hence, to make her accent faultless, Hathaway turned to her veteran co-stars for private classes.
"It was the thing I knew people would talk about the most, 'Oh, here's this young American upstart playing a beloved British icon,'" Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
Hathaway added that she felt "stupid" talking in the accent while she was away from the set.
"I felt really stupid staying in the accent the whole time. I really owe a lot to the rest of the cast who would sit there and coach me through dinner," she said.
