Washington, Aug 9 : It seems George Clooney is going to make a world of difference, for the actor has narrated and executive produced a documentary on Darfur crisis 'Sand and Sorrow'.
The HBO documentary chronicles the historical events that led to Sudan's crisis as well as the international community's slow reaction to the genocide, E! online reports.
The documentary also follow human-rights activist John Pendergrast, Harvard professor Samantha Power and New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof who went to Darfur and to the refugee camps set up along the Chad-Sudan border and highlighted the problems faced by the people there.
Author and Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, Senators Barack Obama and Sam Brownback and rebel leader Minni Minawi have given their interviews for the documentary.
The documentary was directed, produced, written and edited by Paul Freedman.
Earlier, the actor supported the cause by teaming up with his 'Ocean's Thirteen' co-stars Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle by screenings the film prior to the its premiere to raise funds for the International Rescue Committee (IRC), which has helped more than 2 million Sudanese refugees displaced by the conflict.
The Clooney-led group also formed an organization, 'Not On Our Watch', which partnered with the IRC to raise awareness to stop and prevent mass atrocities.
The actor has been active in advocating a resolution of the Darfur conflict. His efforts also include an episode of Oprah and speaking at the Save Darfur rally in Washington, D.C. on April 30, 2005.
