Hollywood actor Tom Hanks is suing production company Gold Circle Films for failing to pay him his share of the profits from hit movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
Washington, August 8 : Hollywood actor Tom Hanks is suing production company Gold Circle Films for failing to pay him his share of the profits from hit movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
The 'Forrest Gump' star has joined forces with his co-producers from the 2002 film, his wife Rita Wilson and Gary Goetzman, together with leading actress Nia Vardalos, to initiate the legal action against the production company.
Hanks has accused the company of breaking a promise on agreements to pay the four stars a share of the 368 million dollars profits, as stated in their contracts, reports E! Online.
The producers claim that Gold Circle has avoided a check to identify exact revenue from My Big Fat Greek Wedding until now.
They further claim that the company is instead providing accounts that are "vague and inadequate in failing to provide information consistent with industry standards."
The companies that filed suit on behalf of Hanks, Wilson, Vardalos and producer Goetzman state that Gold Circle "has acted wilfully, maliciously and in wanton disregard of plaintiffs' rights under the agreements."
However, responding to the whole issue, Gold Circle VP Scott Niemeyer said in a statement to the Times that the suit "lacks any merit and Gold Circle has met all requests from auditors and communicated and released documents to them."
