Rupert Everett defends Cruises Scientology beliefs

British actor Rupert Everett has come ahead in defence of Tom Cruise after his Scientology beliefs fuelled controversy in Germany recently.

London, August 7 : British actor Rupert Everett has come ahead in defence of Tom Cruise after his Scientology beliefs fuelled controversy in Germany recently.

The Shrek star spoke out about Cruise's appreciation of the Church of Scientology after Germany's Defence Ministry branded the Mission Impossible star's beliefs, a "money-making cult."

In Cruise's defence, Everett insisted that Scientology is "no more ridiculous" than any other religion.

"People say Scientology is ridiculous, but it's no more ridiculous than the virgin birth, really," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

"It's all the same madness," he added.

Cruise's belief in Scientology was put in jeopardy by German authorities recently while the actor was filming for his new movie Valkyrie in the country.
