Madonnas Malawian adoption not crumbling

Madonnas adoption of Malawian toddler David Banda is going smoothly, insists her rep.

Washington, Aug 7 : Madonna's adoption of Malawian toddler David Banda is going smoothly, insists her rep.

The news comes just days after Penstone Kilembe, director of Malawi's Ministry of Child Welfare, who was overseeing the adoption was banned by his government from travelling to the UK, where he was to spend a week with the couple to determine if they were fit parents.

At the time, Mr Kilembe said that banning him from travelling could see the adoption process "crumble".

However, Madge's rep Liz Rosenberg denied these claims, and said that the news was "not accurate".

"The information regarding the adoption that was reported on Reuters is simply not accurate. The adoption process is going along very well and according to proper procedure," Usmagazine.com quoted Rosenberg, as saying.

A source close to Madge also denied the claim of Kate Kainja, the Minister of Women and Child Development in Malawi, that Kilembe had obtained an air ticket to London and money from Madonna herself without the Malawi government's approval.

"Madonna is unfortunately not one of those people who gives out free airline tickets! She doesn't really give out anything for free. She definitely followed all proper procedures in this case and didn't give him the plane fare or money for expenses," the source said.

Baby David has been in Madonna and her hubby Guy Ritchie's care for the past nine months.
