London, Aug. 7 : Sir Ben Kingsley, who won an Oscar for his movie role as India's peace-loving spiritual leader Mahatama Gandhi, is now in talks with the producers of 'Doctor Who' to play one of the most dangerous baddies in the galaxy, Davros.
Sources have revealed that negotiations with the 63-year-old star are said to be in the final stages, and that the actor himself is keen on playing the Dalek's creator.
"Ben's agent has been in talks for a while now and he's very keen to play the part of Davros. A deal will be signed any day now," the Sun quoted a source as saying.
Insane half-man, half-machine Davros, who first battled the Doctor in 1975, will return for the fourth series of the hit BBC1 show, which stars David Tennant as the Timelord.
The series, which begins next spring, will be the last headed by Russell T Davies, the writer who successfully relaunched the show in 2005.
Other big name guests lined up include Kylie Minogue, who has filmed scenes for this year's Christmas show.
