Cate Blanchett is doing her bit to save the environment and a green example to her kids by not washing her hair.
Washington, August 7 : Cate Blanchett is doing her bit to save the environment and a green example to her kids by not washing her hair.
The actress recently admitted that she has cluttered her home with timers to ensure she isn't tempted to waste water.
The Aussie beauty has even opted for driving 20km less a week, switching her household power supply to green power and installing a water-efficient shower head.
"I only need to have a two minute shower. I went to a website and my husband was laughing at me because a box arrived with 30 timers, and I thought, 'Excellent, stocking fillers!'" Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
The Elizabeth star has decided to do as much as she can to save energy after a recent visit to drought-ravaged Lake Samonsvale, north of Brisbane, Australia.
Blanchett, who was promoting the Australian Conservation Foundation's new online campaign, said that it's important her sons, Dashiell, 4, and Roman, 2, understand the dramatic effects of climate change.
"I'm extremely concerned about climate change as a mother, because I want to ensure for my children a very safe and sustainable future," she said.
"It's great to see my children engaged in these things, like when you put the water on when you put the toothbrush under the tap, you turn it off the minute you take it out and you don't let the water run," she added.
