Mel Gibson to star in Lethal Weapon 5?

Director Richard Donner reportedly has a worthwhile script for a fifth Lethal Weapon movie, which may prove helpful in convincing in Mel Gibson to star in it.

Melbourne, Aug. 6 : Director Richard Donner reportedly has a worthwhile script for a fifth 'Lethal Weapon' movie, which may prove helpful in convincing in Mel Gibson to star in it.

"It's up to Mel. If he says yes then there's another Lethal Weapon. I have a great story, I'd love to do it and put Lethal Weapon to bed," Moviehole quoted Donner as saying.

Acknowledging the fact that Gibson can be convinced to star in the fourth sequel only if there is a worthwhile story, Donner expressed his belief that the script he has may prove helpful.

"It was hard for Mel to do Lethal 4. It was really hard on him. For Lethal Weapon 5 it would have to be a story that would be worthwhile, but I think maybe there is something out there," he said.

Donner's statement comes just days after reports claimed that Warner Bros were in the early stages of trying to re-launch the popular action series.
