Filmmaker Sir Ridley Scott proclaimed the science fiction genre dead at the 25th anniversary screening of Blade Runner at the Venice Film Festival.
Washington, Aug. 31 : Filmmaker Sir Ridley Scott proclaimed the science fiction genre dead at the 25th anniversary screening of Blade Runner at the Venice Film Festival.
He said that movies like Independence Day, The War Of The Worlds and The Matrix did not have as much of strength as his 1982 epic and the "best" sci-fi ever, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Scott said that such films relies on special effects instead of storylines, and so had nothing original to give to the audiences.
"There's nothing original. We've seen it all before. Been there. Done it. There is an over-reliance on special effects as well as weak storylines," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
