Redgraves tacky wardrobe forced daughters to become unpaid stylists

Vanessa Redgraves tacky wardrobe during her days as an activist forced her daughters to become her unpaid stylists so as to make their mum well-dressed.

Washington, August 3 : Vanessa Redgrave's tacky wardrobe during her days as an activist forced her daughters to become her unpaid stylists so as to make their mum well-dressed.

The British actress confessed that her interest in fashion and styling was nil when she was campaigning for human rights group the Workers Revolutionary Party in the 1970s.

"I wear a lot of black. I'm a slacks-and-shirt woman - if possible, men's linen shirts without collars. But every so often I'm given something by one of my daughters, or a designer will make something for me. And I love that," Contactmusic quoted her, as telling Vogue.

Redgrave also said that she often went to rallies and demonstrations wearing plaid shirts and knee socks.

"There was a period in our childhood when she was very politically active and she didn't think about clothes at all. She would dress appallingly and didn't buy herself anything," Redgrave's daughter, Natasha, said.

"That went on for years, to the degree that my sister and I got really embarrassed by her. We sort of took her in hand and started to get her classic Donna Karan pants and jackets," she added.
