Amy, Blake might end up like Sid and Nancy, says Winehouses dad-in-law

Amy Winehouses father-in-law is worried that the troubled singer and her hubby Blake Fielder-Civil might meet with a tragic end like musicians Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen.

London, Aug 28 : Amy Winehouse's father-in-law is worried that the troubled singer and her hubby Blake Fielder-Civil might meet with a tragic end like musicians Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen.

The Sex Pistols' bassist and American groupie Spungen, who were both heroin addicts, died due to drug overdose in the late seventies.

Giles Civil claimed that if the couple continue with their addiction and self-destruction habits they are going to be doomed like the yesteryear's stars.

"Drink, drugs and a history of self-harm is a worrying cocktail. I'm going to point out the Sid and Nancy comparison to Blake," the Daily Mail quoted him, as saying

"You couldn't tell Sid Vicious what to do, could you? But I'd like Blake and Amy to think about those two. It might shake them up. I doubt it, but maybe," he added.

Civil added that though Winehouse has a long history of self-harming, it is a new thing for his son.

He added that the two require 'professional counselling'.

"We know Amy and Blake are both into self-harming. Amy has a longer history of it, but this a new thing for us. Blake never did it at home. We've seen cuts on his arm and asked about it, but he just sort of waved it away. He can be very vague when he wants to be," he said.

"It's a psychological problem - people do it when they don't feel in control. It's their way of getting back in charge. But with the two of them self-harming it's very worrying."

"I think they need professional counselling. But we can't drag the horses to the water, let alone make them drink it. There's so little I can do. The little advice I do give them they'll plainly ignore. I wont dictate and try to manipulate them. I can only be there for them if the need arises."
