While speaking at the festival, BBC One controller Peter Fincham expressed the happiness the award had filled him with, reports Contactmusic.
He also revealed that he was looking forward to continuing as the head of the channel, which has faced criticism over scandals related to fixed phone-in competitions, and a trailer that showed misleading footage of the queen.

The festival's executive committee comprising of 33 senior figures from TV and journalism decided as to who should get the best channel award, while the award for the best programme was decided by a group of 200 youths who picked their favourite from a shortlist.
