New York, Aug 27 : Oprah Winfrey's plans to hold a star-studded fund-raiser for presidential candidate Barack Obama on Sept. 8 at her 64 million dollar estate near Santa Barbara, California were almost held up by a determined bride.
Oprah had agreed to let out the estate for the weekend but to her horror found out that a wedding was also scheduled to take place out there.
According to sources, Oprah's camp then rang up the bride, and attorney, and asked her to either move or vacate some of the rooms.
This however, didn't go down too well with the lady in question.
"Due to the proximity to and the cachet of the ranch to Oprah Winfrey's estate, Oprah's people have been calling the bride to either move or vacate some of the rooms to accommodate her guest list. The bride, an attorney, is not budging," the New York Post quoted a source, as saying.
However, the bride did budge a bit, for San Ysidro Ranch Manager Marco Perry revealed that the party had cancelled a few rooms, but insisted that it was not because of Oprah.
"The wedding party did cancel a few rooms - but we didn't charge them a cancellation fee because there was such a demand for the rooms that weekend," he said.
