The High Court in London has reportedly directed OK! magazine to pay an undisclosed amount to actor David Hasselhoff in libel damages.
London, Aug. 25 : The High Court in London has reportedly directed OK! magazine to pay an undisclosed amount to actor David Hasselhoff in libel damages.
The magazine, which had claimed that Hasselhoff was drunk and abusive at a Los Angeles nightclub after winning a custody battle for his daughters, has also agreed to print an apology in its UK and US editions for making such allegations.
The former 'Baywatch' star is "very pleased" with the court's decision. He said that the allegations were an "outrage", as they suggested he had got drunk just hours after telling a court that he would abstain from alcohol to win back visitation rights to his children.
Hasselhoff also revealed that his daughters had encouraged him to "take a stand" against the journal's allegations, reports the BBC.
During the hearing of the case, his lawyers told the court that the magazine did not contact him with regard to the claims before going to print.
A witness, who was present at the Les Deux nightclub that evening, said that Hasselhoff drank only energy drinks, and he was not abusive to anyone during the evening.
The magazine, which claimed that Hasselhoff "drank champagne like it was water", also admitted that their allegations were entirely false.
