Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor is set to give a one-night stage performance in AR Gurneys classic play Love Letters.
London, Aug 24 : Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor is set to give a one-night stage performance in AR Gurney's classic play 'Love Letters'.
The 75-year-old will star in the play at a yet-to-be-decided venue in California following her wish to star as Sunset Boulevard diva Norma Desmond in the big screen adaptation of the musical, putting aside rumours that she has been on death's door.
The two-time Academy Award-winning actress will act alongside actor James Earl Jones in the play, the Daily Express reports.
This will be the actress' first acting stint since the TV film 'These Old Broads' six years ago and also her first stage performance since 'Private Lives' with ex-husband Richard Burton in 1983.
While screen veterans like Meryl Streep, Glenn Close and Barbra Streisand are being considered for the film role by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed the music for his version of the 1950 film classic, Taylor earlier insisted that she was convinced that she will be able to do total justice to the role of Desmond, originally played by Gloria Swanson.
