Extras who got injured while shooting for Tom Cruises forthcoming World War II movie Valkyrie have threatened legal action against the producers.
Washington, Aug. 23 : Extras who got injured while shooting for Tom Cruise's forthcoming World War II movie 'Valkyrie' have threatened legal action against the producers.
Nine persons got injured as a result of a truck accident on the film's set in Berlin on August 19, and received medical treatment after they fell off the vehicle. Cruise had a day off filming at that time.
The background artists are now pressing ahead with their demands for compensation, and have hired the services of lawyer Ariane Bluttner.
"(They will sue) unless producers unbureaucratically and rapidly compensated the injured. Those responsible on the set displayed inhuman indifference in playing with the health and the lives of the extras," Contactmusic quoted Bluttner as saying.
Earlier, it was reported that eleven artists got injured during the film's shooting. But Allan Mayer, publicist for producers United Artists, has now clarified that the nine persons were injured in the incident.
Mayer also said that injuries sustained by them were minor, and that the truck was not being driven at a fast speed when the accident occurred.
"The injuries were extremely minor. Only nine extras were injured (not 11 as had been previously reported). The truck was going 15 miles-per-hour. The 2nd Unit was filming that day, and Tom Cruise was not working. Eight of the extras were treated for cuts and bruises, and the ninth was kept overnight for observation," Mayer said.
