Legendary singer John Lennons entire solo catalogue of songs is set to be offered on Apples iTunes.
Washington, August 16 : Legendary singer John Lennon's entire solo catalogue of songs is set to be offered on Apple's iTunes.
Apple Inc made the announcement after finalising the deal with the late singer's wife Yoko Ono.
According to Apple, 16 Lennon solo albums are available for the first time on iTunes with songs on two albums - 'Lennon Legend' and 'Acoustic' - making their digital debuts.
Exclusive video content will also be provided with the albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, Sometime in New York City, Walls and Bridges and Milk and Honey for a period of 30 days.
"John would have loved the fact that his music will now be available in a format suited to a new generation of listeners," Contactmusic quoted Ono, as saying.
As is the case with EMI's music on iTunes, the songs will be available on DRM-free format with higher quality sound.
Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple, said: "John Lennon is one of the greatest artists of our time. We're thrilled to have his solo catalogue available on the iTunes store for the first time."
The deal follows a similar move by Sir Paul McCartney in May. George Harrison is the only former Beatle whose solo work is not available for legal download.
