Washington, Aug. 15 : British pop star George Michael has begun his 100 hours of community service after being convicted for driving while unfit in May.
The former Wham! star spent three hours helping workers in the garden at a homeless hostel in London on Monday.
"I'm just like everyone else. If you do something stupid, you have to pay the price. I've been doing some gardening and really enjoyed it," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
"I'll do whatever they want me to do. I don't want any special treatment," he added.
Michael was arrested in October last year, after he was found slumped at the wheel of his car.
He pleaded guilty to driving while unfit during the hearing of his case, after the police claimed that the singer had a cocktail of drugs in his system including GHB, and cannabis at the time of his arrest.
He was sentenced in June, when he was banned from driving for two years, and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.
