Washington, Aug 13 : "Sopranos" star James Gandolfini is getting set to play Sonny Vaccaro, the man who got Michael Jordan to sign the first million-dollar shoe deal at Nike in "ABCD Camp".
Apart from starring in the films, Gondolfini will also be exec produce through his Attaboy Films banner with partner Alexandra Ryan.
The move also marks the actor's return to HBO, as Attaboy has an exclusive producing deal at the company.
Also executively producing the pic will be Dan Halsted and Baron Davis.
The drama has been pitched by "Friday Night Lights" screenwriter David Aaron Cohen, who will also be penning the script.
The movie will chronicle the last youth basketball camp established by the corporate sports scout Vaccaro.
Vaccaro is credited with launching the careers of dozens of NBA stars, including LeBron James and Tracy McGrady.
He, who worked for Nike, then Adidas and Reebok, is also famous for brokering deals with college coaches to outfit teams in brand-name shoes, and then signing multimillion-dollar shoe-endorsement deals with Jordan, Kobe Bryant and others.
