Disney signs Francis Lawrence to direct Snow and the Seven

Disney has signed Constantine director Francis Lawrence to helm its upcoming flick Snow and the Seven.

Washington, Aug 1 : Disney has signed 'Constantine' director Francis Lawrence to helm its upcoming flick 'Snow and the Seven'.

The fantasy-adventure will be produced by Scott Rudin and Andrew Gunn, Variety magazine reports.

The film is reportedly a retelling of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' set in British colonial China.

The fairytale revolves around a Brit girl raised in Hong Kong who realizes her destiny is to conquer an evil force. She gets her training from seven Shaolin monks and prepares to fight.

The film script was first written by Josh Harmon and Scott Elder, but the latest draft was penned by Scott Moore and Jon Lucas.

Walt Disney revealed that 'Snow and the Seven' was just the working title that will be changed later.

The film is scheduled to start shooting next year with Yuen Woo-ping as the fight choreographer and Anthony Wong and Dede Nickerson as exec producers.
