News

History

The name of Khammam is derived from the name of a temple of Narsimhadri. The temple is believed to have been existing since Treta Yuga. The vertical rock under the temple is known as Kamba in urdu.

Khammam was part of Warangal district till October 1, 1953. It was later carved out as a district.

Municipal Corporation

The Andhra Pradesh government is in the process of converting Khammam as a Municipal Corporation.
