Centec to Join Light Reading Panel Discussion on Winning Whitebox Strategies for Communication Service Providers (CSPs)

November 17, 2015 - Suzhou, Jiang Su Province, China

WHO: Centec Networks, participating on a panel during the Light Reading "White Box Strategies for CSPs" Conference

WHAT: Centec President, CEO and Co-founder James Sun will join executives from AT&T, Brocade and Mellanox to discuss how white box switches benefit telecom service providers, melding the benefits of traditional hardware with the advantages afforded by new-age technologies such as SDN. The panel is scheduled during a one-day conference focusing on the future of virtualized, open source, white box technology in CSP networks.

  • Sun and other panelists will offer their insights on topics including: how to build a winning white box switch strategy; ideal uses for white box switches such as SDN and NFV technology; and how to build white box switches into an overall orchestration story or overlays. They are also expected to discuss hardware and software integration, and the role of open source and its future in next-generation switch design.
  • Sun will participate in the discussion from the perspective of a terabit switching silicon provider that helps customers build systems on top of its solutions. Developers can leverage Centec's underlying silicon capabilities and perform second-level customization, while taking advantage of open APIs such as the Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI) and an open-source switch operating system in a variety of integration scenarios.
  • Centec's solutions provide key monitoring, visibility and distributed routing capabilities to tackle cloud challenges on five key levels: application-centric flow completion time; support for versatile network virtualization cases; flow-level visibility and control; fault protection; and trouble-shooting, monitoring and analytics.
  • Centec is a leading contributor to open-source white box technology innovation, offering a complete terabit switching reference design that includes its Open Switch Platform (OSP) software for Data Center SDN/Openflow and enterprise applications. It is also one of only two chip vendors contributing to the Open Networking Foundation's Atrium Project, a fully virtualized Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Peering Router Solution.
