Selling Halloween Magazine Releases 2013 Industry Research Report: Research Reveals Sales Stats for Retailers and Haunts

March 26, 2013 - Randolph, NJ

Selling Halloween magazine, the definitive resource for Halloween retailers for 23 years, has released the results of its first ever Industry Research Report. The report, which surveyed both Halloween retailers and haunted attractions operators, reveals the reported sales and trends that impacted the Halloween and Haunt industries as a whole during the 2012 season and predicts what will drive business in 2013.

The report covers a comprehensive range of topics including: annual sales, revenue producers, sales gains, business challenges, marketing strategies, social media initiatives, investment strategies, trends and more. The survey's findings show how retailers are under increasing pressure to find a balance between saving on overhead while keeping product mixes fresh. Similarly, haunt operators are looking for ways to keep costs down, yet still find innovative technologies to refresh attractions year-after-year. The survey offers insights into how the respondents are tackling those and other business challenges.

The report reveals that 33% of retailers saw an increase in revenue, while 24.3% saw a decrease and 17% saw it stay the same. On the haunt side however, 61% of respondents said that sales were up for 2012.

Other key findings include:

  • The top revenue producing categories for retailers.
  • The top areas that saw sales gains.
  • Greatest challenges facing both retailers and haunt owners.
  • Best price points for both adult and children's costumes.
  • What retailers are doing to cut costs.
  • What next-generation trends operators predict will have the biggest impact on haunts.
  • Biggest impacts on revenue for haunts.
  • Online sales figures
  • And much more!
