Agile Core Enables Ultimate Flexibility Through Multi-degree ROADMTechnology

ADVA Optical Networking announcedtoday that Kabel Deutschland, the largest cable operator inGermany, hasselected its 100G coherent transport for a new nationwide backbonenetwork.Forming part of ADVA Optical Networking's Agile Core solution, KabelDeutschlandwill deploy 100G technology along with multi-degree, directionlessROADMs.Consisting of 26 major nodes and more than 50 intermediate sites, thisnetworkincludes a fully meshed backbone throughout Germany.

Multi-degree, directionless ROADM technology provides Kabel Deutschlandwith theflexibility required to quickly provision new services. This flexibilityis keyto the network's success as some links stretch more than 1,000 kilometers.Thisfully-automated 100G network reduces operational costs, planningrequirementsand lead times.
