Jellyvision's ALEX Celebrates Its Best. Year. Ever.

December 18, 2013 - Chicago, IL

Today Jellyvision, maker of ALEX®, the virtual employee benefits counselor, looked back on what has been its most exciting year of benefits communication to date. While finishing off the last of the stale cupcakes from their holiday party, the team was tickled to see that ALEX has been trusted to deliver critical benefits information and decision support to millions of employees and their families.

The growth has been exciting, but 2013 included a number of other highlights. Here are just a few:

Re-forming the discussion on health care reform

When it comes to helping befuddled employees make sense of health care reform, some ALEX-style humor and know-how can be just what the doctored ordered. In 2013, Jellyvision recognized the employee communication opportunities brought by the Affordable Care Act, and launched ALEX Does Healthcare Reform to help confused employees understand how the ACA will impact them and their benefits.

Opening up the channel partner, um... channel

To help brokers, carriers, third-party administrators and consultants bring ALEX and ALEX Does Health Care Reform to even more employees, Jellyvision launched a new channel partner initiative. Through the program, partners get a powerful and simple new way to bring their offerings to customers while spreading the word about how ALEX simplifies benefits communication for employees at companies of all sizes.

November awards thrill the ALEX team

This year, the ALEX team was delighted to receive a 2013 eHealthcare Leadership Award for "Business/Process Improvement Application or Products" for the new ALEX Does Health Care Reform conversation.

Of course, the team was even more excited to see one of its clients -- Baylor College of Medicine manager of benefits; health, welfare and compliance Robin Vickers -- honored with a 2013 Healthcare Consumerism Superstar award. Vickers was recognized by the Institute for Healthcare Consumerism for using ALEX as part of a comprehensive benefits orientation and onboarding project. Yay, Robin!

Survey says... employees are stumped about their benefits

2013 also saw the release of "ALEX Asks: What Employees Think About Your Benefits Communication," a comprehensive survey of 400 full-time, benefits-eligible workers. The survey revealed some surprising insights, and highlighted a general lack of awareness about health care reform and benefit and wellness program offerings.

"It's humbling to know that ALEX and ALEX Does Health Care Reform have helped millions of people with some very important decisions," said Dave Churchill, vice president of sales, ALEX, for Jellyvision. "It's also very humbling to realize I have frosting on my shirt."
