Golden Gate University School of Law Congratulates Katy Tang on San Francisco Board of Supervisors Appointment
March 22, 2013 - SAN FRANCISCO, CA
Golden Gate University (GGU), the 112-year old private, non-profit university for a world-class, practical education, is proud to announce recent GGU Law student Katy Tang has been appointed by San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, representing Outer Sunset District.
Tang was finishing up two years with GGU School of Law when appointed on February 26, 2013. As her new role is a full-time one, she'll be taking a leave of absence from the School.
"We're sad to see her go, but we're so proud of Katy's great achievement as a Bay Area leader and we support her in this exciting new leadership role," said Rachel Van Cleave, Dean of GGU's School of Law. "We're very honored she chose GGU Law. And she is certainly welcome back when the time is right."
"I chose GGU Law because of its deep ties with the Bay Area business and legal communities, exceptional practicing law professors working in the field and advisors who really cared," said Tang during a recent interview. "Also it's one of the only law schools in the Bay Area that could offer me a flexible, part-time schedule with weekend and night classes."
While attending GGU School of Law, Tang was working as a Legislative Aide to former Supervisor Carmen Chu. As a working professional in San Francisco, Tang successfully completed several general law courses and was most interested in the nexus between public policy and law.
