Center4(TM) Appoints BJ Greenspan as Managing Director

March 6, 2013 - NEW YORK, NY

Center4, a new kind of technology accelerator devoted to New York City's nonprofit community -- established by FEGS Health & Human Services, in collaboration with its IT subsidiary, AllSector Technology Group -- announced today the appointment of BJ Greenspan as its managing director. Greenspan brings more than 30 years of experience in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors across a range of industries, including technology, social media start-ups, and financial and community services.

Greenspan will oversee Center4's strategic direction and all operations, programming and entrepreneurial ventures. She and her team will be responsible for creating and executing programs that convene and catalyze partnerships among Center4's constituencies -- from nonprofits and social entrepreneurs to investors, technologists and representatives from government and the philanthropic communities.

Greenspan comes to Center4 most recently from Mortgage Resolution Partners, part of a public, private and nonprofit partnership committed to promoting innovative solutions to the housing crisis in America, where she served as chief of staff. Prior to this, she was chief of staff at the Institute of New Economic Thinking (INET). Previously, Greenspan was co-founder and COO of video-based social media start-up,; chief administrative officer of Walker Digital Management, a technology focused invention laboratory; CTO for Priceline Webhouse Club and a hedge fund of funds; and chief of staff and co-CTO for the 9/11 United Services Group. Earlier in her career, Greenspan held positions at such notable nonprofits as the 92nd Street Y.

"BJ's breadth of industry expertise and extensive knowledge in both the for-profit and nonprofit space will be an invaluable asset as we develop Center4," said Ira Machowsky, executive vice president of FEGS. "Her track record of bridging technology with business strategy will prove highly effective in meeting the needs of the nonprofit community."

On joining Center4, Greenspan added, "There is a clear and critical need for the nonprofit sector to more tightly connect to the dynamic tech community. I look forward to helping nonprofits and the people they serve benefit from technology innovation, entrepreneurship and educational programming by working hand-in-hand with Center4's impressive blue ribbon advisory board."

Greenspan holds an MBA with honors from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a B.A. from Cornell University.

Scheduled to open this spring in New York City at 205 West 39th Street, Center4 will articulate the nonprofit sector's needs to technologists and social entrepreneurs, and facilitate partnerships and ventures that accelerate access to and utilization of technology solutions to strengthen the capacity of nonprofits to deliver effective and cost-efficient services. Named for the emerging "Fourth Sector," Center4 leverages the convergence of the private, public and nonprofit sectors to benefit the social good.
