Tieto signs outsourcing agreement with Stampen

January 26, 2012 - London

Tieto Corporation   PRESS RELEASE  26 January 2012 at 2.00 pm EET

Media group Stampen, Sweden, has decided to outsource a large part of its IT operations to Tieto. The agreement runs over five years and includes a consolidation of Stampen's IT environment into Tieto's data centre, operation of business-critical systems and the introduction of a new workplace concept for around 2 500 employees. In addition, around 30 Stampen employees will be transferred to Tieto. The five-year agreement corresponds to an order value of approximately EUR 21.5 million.

Stampen's business places stringent demands on availability, covering newspaper production, digital media and an extensive printing operation. In addition to providing infrastructure services, Tieto will also assume operational responsibility for most of the business critical systems.

"We chose Tieto because they showed us that they are a flexible partner that can provide cost-effective and scalable solutions, essential for any future international expansion. They also have a proven track record in media and understand trends in the industry, which is important to us given the challenges the sector is facing," says Inge Olausson, CIO of Stampen.

The agreement with Tieto will give Stampen access to the very latest technology, as well as a standardised and consolidated IT environment. The transition over to the new IT environment will be completed before the end of the year.

"We're delighted and proud to have been given this opportunity to work with Stampen. The biggest benefit for Stampen will be that they get access to services that are the best practice in the media industry, as well as a solution that offers cost optimization due to Tieto's economies of scale. The agreement with Stampen, along with the deal we recently announced with MTG, shows that Tieto's focus on the media industry in Sweden is now starting to bear fruit," says Mats Jadesköld, Vice President of Telecom & Media at Tieto.
