Porterville Transit Selects RouteMatch Software as Its Full Service Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Technology Provider

July 9, 2012 - Atlanta, Ga And Porterville, CA

RouteMatch Software today announced that California-based transit agency Porterville Transit has chosen RouteMatch Software as its end-to-end ITS technologies provider. RouteMatch will deliver a completely integrated solution for the City of Porterville for its paratransit, fixed route and traveler information services. Porterville Transit will also use RouteMatch's mobile solutions using Android-based tablet devices as in-vehicle mobile data devices to enhance on-time performance and real-time traveler information services.

"While we looked at other ITS providers, it really came down to having a full service vendor -- and knowing that our project would not be piecemealed by multiple vendors. We liked that RouteMatch Software offered one database with a single sign on, and one point of contact for support," said Richard Tree, Transit Manager, Porterville Transit. "Having our technology hosted through RouteMatch Cloud Services was a huge benefit as we have a small IT staff. We felt that RouteMatch brought forth discussions, paid attention, and worked closely with us to understand our needs."

The purchase of RouteMatch's ITS technologies supports Porterville Transit's ridership-focused efforts, continuing on recent improvements made by the availability of newer and more comfortable, large capacity buses and concentrated efforts to enhance rider experience. The 2011-2012 year has proved to be the second highest year for ridership in the City of Porterville's history. Porterville Transit currently serves a 30% student population, 10% senior population and 60% commuter population and operates eight fixed routes and three paratransit buses.

Through its work with RouteMatch, Porterville Transit will also be replacing its current automated vehicle location (AVL) system with RouteMatch mobile data solutions using tablets. This is expected to help Porterville Transit cut back on paper, monitor on-time performance, and provide real-time data for the transit agency's traveler information systems.

"RouteMatch has opened new doors for us," said Tree. "We are now discussing other 'smart bus' technology enhancements, group scheduling, deviated fixed route efforts, and phone notifications -- all of these can be easily added onto our one platform. It's exciting that our riders will be able to benefit from these advancements."

Said Tim Quinn, Executive Vice President and Co-founder of RouteMatch Software, "We are excited that Porterville Transit has joined the RouteMatch family and are thrilled that they have entrusted us to help them achieve their strategic goals to improve ridership services and operational efficiencies. Porterville Transit is a progressive and visionary transit system. They serve as a fantastic example of how today's small and mid-sized systems can now have access to sophisticated, enterprise-class technologies on a single technology platform."
