Clean Air America WeldStation Helps Snead State Establish Welding Program With Crystal Clean Air

August 2, 2012 - ATLANTA, GA

Clean Air America, Inc., innovator in air filtration products that protect workers, students, and the environment, announces that Snead State Community College has started a welding program that uses the state-of-the-art Clean Air America WeldStation for exceptional ventilation. The student lab will be free of smoke and dust, allowing students and teachers to breathe clean air while they work.

"With welding machines giving off welding smoke and grinding dust, it is critical to properly ventilate the air in the lab so that students breathe crystal clean air while working on the machines," said Teresa Walker, Director of Community Education at Snead State Community College. "Clean Air America's WeldStation 5 provides the functionality we need for a low cost, plus its Low-Energy Air Filtration (LEAF) design uses less energy."

"The Clean Air WeldStation 5 has become the defacto standard for air filtration in welding labs for community colleges because of its compact size is designed to fit into almost any space and it is extremely effective too," said Jorgen Brahm, Vice-President, Clean Air America. "Because of this, the WeldStation 5 is installed in over 200 schools in over 30 states."

With the help of a grant from the Governor's Office of Workforce Development, Snead State will start a 12-week welding program this fall as part of their workforce development curriculum. The welding program takes place at the college's instructional site in the Marshall Technical School in Guntersville and includes sessions on welding safety, oxyfuel and plasma arc cutting, weld quality, stick welding, etc. Students completing the program will receive a non-credit welding certificate, an Alabama Certified Worker designation, an Alabama Career Readiness Certificate and an OSHA 10-hour Safety Training card, all of which are recognized by the industry, opening more employment opportunities for students.

The high-performance Clean Air America WeldStation 5 comes in a single or dual model, is environmentally friendly so that it saves on energy costs, and features low noise, a heavy-duty table, and interior lighting. Using a Smart Start (automatic start/stop), VFD (variable frequency drive), LED lights, high efficiency blowers, and premium efficiency motors saves up to 80% on energy usage.
