Amtel Announces Mobile Device Management (MDM) Pricing for K-12 Schools

June 26, 2012 - SANTA CLARA, CA

Amtel Inc., the industry's first integrated solution for managing mobile device security and telecom expenses, today announced a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution targeted at K-12 schools with a flat-rate fee to support an unlimited number of devices.

"K-12 schools today face an unprecedented influx of mobile devices and tablets," said Richard Bliss, CMO of Amtel. "They typically have enterprise sized user bases with small business sized IT budgets. With competitive offerings charging up to $50 a device per year, costs quickly become astronomical for schools that have thousands of students and faculty. By providing an MDM solution for unlimited devices at an affordable rate, we enable schools to take advantage of the many learning capabilities smart devices can offer."

The new Amtel MDM Flat-Rate Education Plan offers the key features K-12 schools require for mobile security and management, including app management, Apple app volume purchasing, mobile password security, device information, and remote, selective wipe. Amtel's Web-based console operates across the leading mobile device platforms, including iOS and Android devices. Amtel is the only SAS 70 Type II certified solution for MDM, offering the highest level of data security and reliability equivalent to that used by financial institutions. The system is easily installed through over-the-air provisioning within minutes, and without limitations on the number of devices a school can enroll.

Educational institutions face a variety of mobile device management challenges, such as preventing students from accessing blacklisted websites or apps (games, pornography), and providing teachers with the ability to push lessons, homework and grades to students and their parents.

"iPads and smartphones are creating opportunities for schools and students to change the education experience," said Bliss. "Amtel's MDM flat-rate plan limits the risk and maximizes school usage of this evolving technology."

Amtel leads the market as one of the first MDM providers to offer its premium service through a SaaS platform. This eliminates the expensive and time consuming installation of competitive MDM offerings that come with initial installation costs. In the same way Amtel made its premium MDM and expense management platform cost effective via SaaS delivery, it is making an education specific MDM version even more affordable with a flat-rate service.
