Wavelink to Present on Voice-Enabled Applications at Retail Asia Expo

June 8, 2011 - Salt Lake City, UT

Wavelink Corporation ( today announced the company will be speaking on wireless voice-driven applications in retail at Retail Asia Expo 2011. The 45-minute session will focus on traditional barriers that have curtailed the adoption of voice technologies in the past and how new technologies provide a low-cost, effective way to improve the efficiency and accuracy of data collection and bar code scanning.

Retail Asia Expo 2011 will take place June 14-16, 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Kelly Ungs, senior director of channels at Wavelink, will be presenting Thursday, June 16 at 3:15 p.m. on "Breaking the Voice Barrier -- The Benefits of Voice Technology in a Retail Environment." Wavelink will also be exhibiting at Retail Asia Expo in booth J05.

When voice technology is utilized for data input and issuing directions in enterprise applications such as warehouse picking, the need for workers to enter data via the keyboard into the mobile computer is eliminated, which enables hands-free operation. The ability to combine voice with other types of data entry, such as bar code scanning, provides a further crosscheck to ensure that tasks are accurately completed. This results in an improvement in worker productivity and safety, as well as a reduction in errors.

Wavelink Speakeasy easily adds text-to-speech and speech-to-text functionality to enterprise applications to increase productivity of the mobile workforce and IT staff and improve accuracy and performance of mobile applications and devices. It allows for hands-free data operation without modification to the host applications or requiring new hardware or servers, eliminating both implementation time and equipment costs.
