UC Berkeley Simplifies Letters of Recommendation With ETS My Credentials Vault(SM) Powered by Interfolio

November 10, 2011 - Princeton, NJ

Students applying to the graduate division of the University of California, Berkeley can now use the ETS My Credentials Vault(SM) service, a centralized letter of recommendation solution powered by Interfolio. The service helps students streamline the entire process, from initial request through delivery, eliminating dozens of hours traditionally needed to manage and deliver letters with applications.

"The university has partnered with ETS My Credentials Vault for its capabilities in simplifying the submittal of letters of recommendation process," said Andrew J. Szeri, Dean of the Graduate Division, UC Berkeley. "By simplifying an application process that impacts students, faculty, and administrators, we can remain focused on our efforts to encourage students to realize their educational and career goals."

The My Credentials Vault service is a secure online tool that enables users to easily track and manage letters of recommendation for application to graduate and business schools. Until now, the process has been fragmented, requiring faculty to interact with many systems and wasting valuable time they could spend on other tasks.

"UC Berkeley has many of the highest ranked graduate programs in the country, attracting thousands of applicants each year," said Steve Goldenberg, CEO of Interfolio. "Letters of recommendation are critical for graduate students, but managing the collection and delivery of their letters can be a daunting task for the students, faculty and administrators without a uniform process. With ETS My Credentials Vault students can track the status of their letters anytime and from any place."

The UC Berkeley Graduate Division has listed the My Credentials Vault service as the preferred method for receiving letters of recommendation. The service, currently available in the College of Engineering, Psychology and History departments, will expand to include other graduate offices in the future.

"UC Berkeley is taking a leadership role in making the graduate application process more efficient for everyone," said David Payne, Vice President and COO for the Higher Education Division at ETS. "Working with Interfolio, we have supplied UC Berkeley with a solution that will eliminate hours of customer service-related issues and provide a better experience for faculty and applicants utilizing the My Credentials Vault service."
