StarLeaf Delivers First Purpose-Built Voice and Video Solution to Revolutionize Enterprise Communications

June 9, 2011 - SUNNYVALE, CA

StarLeaf launches an enterprise-class solution for voice and video communications -- at the desktop and in the meeting room. This is the first purpose engineered platform for call control and management, with a common dial plan, and a breakthrough in ease-of-use from a revolutionary desktop smart phone.

"As video becomes part of our everyday lives and the enterprise sets out to deliver it to workers, we've watched as other vendors struggle to meet the need for cost-effective converged voice and video," said Mark Loney, StarLeaf CEO. "We're entering the market with an entirely new user experience to drive all communications, and an entirely new category of PBX that raises the bar far above anything else on the market today."

As a single platform the StarLeaf Telepresence PBX 6000 Series is designed to lower total cost-of-ownership. It offers the features of a voice only PBX with full unified video call management. Video calls are made using phones, not remote controls and a web-based interface, gives administrators one view to manage all users and all devices.

The StarLeaf Phone is a smart phone for desktops. Featuring a touch-sensitive backlit panel, users are visually guided through a wealth of phone, conferencing and telepresence functionality. From this one interface, users seamlessly switch between one-to-one and multiparty voice and video calling -- made easy with access to personal and corporate directories, and on-screen search. As a standalone phone it provides all the usual voice features -- such as call forwarding, hold, transfer etc., as well as direct dial, presence status for favorites and unique visual video mail.

The StarLeaf Personal Telepresence solution allows users to move from phone calls to working on a PC, to face-to-face collaboration, to sharing content -- all in one touch of the StarLeaf Phone. Additionally, users easily connect with colleagues, partners and customers using any H.323 device.

The StarLeaf Group Telepresence solution is the first true 'plug and play' room-based system. It just connects to the StarLeaf Phone making all meetings super-simple to initiate or attend. It has connectivity for a camera, PC, two screens, and up to three microphones.

"Flying in the face of convention StarLeaf has taken a new approach to addressing the need to consolidate voice and video," said Andrew W. Davis, Co-founder and Senior Partner, Wainhouse Research. "Coming to market with a complete portfolio that focuses on the user experience and delivers the simplicity of the phone, demonstrates a deep and precise understanding of today's enterprises' needs. The market is ripe for this solution, and StarLeaf is well placed to deliver."

Completing the portfolio is the StarLeaf Telepresence Border Controller, which ensures secure and safe connection for telepresence calls entering an organization. Designed to work with any firewall, the StarLeaf Telepresence Border Controller is paired with the StarLeaf Telepresence PBX to seamlessly enable calls to and from the outside world.
