Platinum Studios Publishes "Cowboys & Aliens" Graphic Novel With It Books, an Imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers

February 22, 2011 - LOS ANGELES, CA

Platinum Studios, Inc. (OTCBB: PDOS), an entertainment company that controls an international library of more than 5,000 comic book characters which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media, will publish its graphic novel "Cowboys & Aliens" with It Books, an imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers, in hardcover on February 22, 2011, followed by a paperback in anticipation of the feature film release on July 29, 2011.

"Cowboys & Aliens" tells the story of an alien invasion in the Old West in the late 19th Century. The graphic novel by Platinum Studios, Inc. Chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg was first published in December 2006, when it became the largest ordered graphic novel of the year.

"We are proud to be able to bring this graphic novel, uniting two fantastically-well-read-genres, to audiences around the world," said Mauro DiPreta, Vice President and Associate Publisher of It Books. "It Books' mandate is to find graphic novel and comic book-based material which has worldwide mass-market appeal and Platinum Studios' 'Cowboys & Aliens' perfectly fits that strategy."

"We are thrilled that It Books is bringing 'Cowboys & Aliens' to fans around the world," said Platinum's Rosenberg. "It Books really understands how to bring the comic book world to the mass-market book audience."

A feature film version of "Cowboys & Aliens," starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde, directed by Jon Favreau ("Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2"), executive produced by Steven Spielberg and produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Rosenberg, will be released in North America on July 29, 2011 via DreamWorks and Universal Pictures with Paramount Pictures handling the international release of the picture.

"Cowboys & Aliens" is just one of the properties Platinum Studios' controls among a multi-universe library of over 5,000 comic characters. While other large comics-based libraries are already spoken for, Platinum Studios remains independent of major entertainment studio affiliation. Marvel was recently acquired by Disney for $4 Billion, and is the second major comic library to be acquired by a Hollywood studio. DC Comics, which is owned by Warner Bros., recently announced a newly-revamped business model, focusing on reaching deeper into DC's catalog of characters.

Platinum Studios' film and TV division's independently financed feature, "Dylan Dog: Dead of Night" with partners Hyde Park Entertainment and Omnilab Media will be released by Omnilab Media/Freestyle Releasing on April 29, 2011. In addition, Platinum is developing "Unique" with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman at Walt Disney Pictures, "Vice" with producer Andrew Lazar and Top Cow Productions, Inc., an untitled feature film project at Sony Pictures Animation, "Nightfall" with producer William Stuart and "Blood Nation" with producer Alexandra Milchan. In addition, Platinum Studios is developing "MetaDocs" for TV with Syfy, FremantleMedia and Landscape Entertainment.
