PetSmart Charities, Inc. Announces New Staff


February 22, 2011 - PHOENIX, AZ

PetSmart Charities, Inc. has filled three key positions with experts in the field. Joining the team are Julie White, director of grants; Blake Williams, director of marketing and communications; and Jeff Davis, senior manager of communications.

"With their combined years of experience and expertise in their fields, Julie, Blake and Jeff are assets to our organization. I'm very happy to have them all on board."

Julie White has been with PetSmart Charities® for nearly two years, first serving as a program manager on the grants team and then as a senior manager. White brings superb leadership skills and knowledge from substantial work experience in both animal welfare and corporate management. Prior to joining PetSmart Charities, White was the executive director of the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter project, where she increased total revenue by 176 percent over three years and developed strategies to increase funding and capacity for the organization's high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter clinic. She has also served as west coast regional manager for Best Friends Animal Society and held various posts at the Friends of King County Animal Control. White is a licensed U.S. customs broker. At PetSmart Charities, she will be responsible for overseeing the field initiatives team and grant programs that benefit nonprofit animal-welfare organizations, including spay/neuter programs, webinars and in-person training conferences. White is a pet parent to a dog and four cats.

Blake Williams has a wealth of experience in both marketing and communications. He brings a strong focus on strategic marketing, specializing in brand positioning, marketing campaign development, measurement and tactical integration of all marketing and communications mediums. Williams' previous experience includes operating his own marketing, public relations and reputation management consulting practice in Kansas City, Mo. and more than 10 years working with Sprint in various senior-level marketing, advertising and communications roles. In addition, he has extensive experience in the political arena, where he served as the lead advance representative for President George H. W. Bush (41) and as the director of events for the 1989 American Bicentennial Inaugural Committee. Williams has a MBA from the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration and a B.A. from the University of Missouri Kansas City. He is responsible for the creation and execution of all marketing and communications programs within PetSmart Charities and is a pet parent to two dogs.

Jeff Davis brings nearly 21 of years of experience in public relations, marketing and journalism to his role of senior manager of communications. He has led marketing-communications for several health care organizations, specialty retailers, and marketing agencies. Previously, Davis was public relations director for the world-renowned Arizona Heart Institute and founded a successful marketing-communications firm that served a variety of government, non-profit and health care clients. He also spent nearly three years with Starbucks Coffee Company, where he led public relations and community outreach during the company's expansion into Arizona before taking on a regional marketing role in three states. Davis has an MBA from St. Mary's College of California and a B.A. in journalism from the University of Arizona. He is charged with leading the PetSmart Charities communications team, including public relations, media relations, cause marketing, online and social media, program and event promotions, advertising and crisis management. He has six adopted cats and two adopted dogs.
