Omnnea Wireless, Ltd. to Launch ONE TOUCH Health Initiative


February 8, 2011 - WASHINGTON, DC

In a move to address the overwhelming health burden in Iraq, data and wireless communication provider Omnnea Wireless, Ltd. is launching the ONE TOUCH Health initiative throughout Iraq. The program, developed in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, has been in development stages since early 2010 and is intended to deploy to users by the second quarter of 2011.

ONE TOUCH Health utilizes the limited resources most Iraqis already have: mobile phones, which have a high penetration throughout the nation. Mobile devices will be turned into points of access for users to interact and obtain immediate, tailored medical responses built on the latest evidence-based medical guidelines. ONE TOUCH Health allows users to engage the health care system in several ways currently impossible in Iraq. The program is multi-dimensional with several targeted methods of reaching the community, all designed around the unifying objective of improving health for the average citizen.

"We are very excited about the progress of ONE TOUCH Health and the implications for all Iraqis," said Executive Vice President Hanadi Faris. "Many programs target the small portion of the population that can afford extensive medical attention. ONE TOUCH Health is meant to improve health for everyone, regardless of means."

Among other services of ONE TOUCH Health are free SMS messages providing healthy lifestyle advice, physician video conferencing services for patients in remote areas, and individualized health databases for subscribers. Also in development is full length programming of various physicians discussing relevant issues, with episodes streamed through mobile devices and available over the Internet. To promote the launch, Omnnea is scheduling a series of "ONE TOUCH Health Day" events that have been planned at their retail outlets. Free and open to the public, Omnnea will be offering Diabetes and hypertension screening, healthy lifestyle education, and vaccinations services.

The company has expanded its staff for the anticipated increased demand, including collaboration with U.S.-based medical groups.
