The offer is on tap at all of Ivar's 25 fast-casual Seafood Bars across Washington state, excluding Ivar's stadium and full service locations.

In addition, throughout the national holiday, fans of the O-Fish-All Ivar's Club Facebook page can participate in a day of clamtastic trivia. Just for participating in the quiz, all fans will automatically get a free cup of chowder with any purchase, so everyone is a winner! To learn more and participate, be sure to "Like" Ivar's on Facebook on Nov. 1.

"Ivar's just wouldn't be Ivar's without clams," said Bob Donegan, president of Ivar's. "We're famous for our clam chowder, our first full-service restaurant established by our flounder, Ivar Haglund, bears the name Ivar's Acres of Clams, and of course, we always live by our official motto of Keep Clam. Clams are just an inherent part of the Ivar's legacy."

A few fun facts to to celebrate these popular bivalve creatures of the sea on their national holiday, include:

  • If Ivar's poured its clam chowder into cups it would fill approximately fifteen Boeing 787 Dreamliners (without the seats of course!);
  • The first restaurant to serve fried clams is said to have been The Parker House in Boston, selling the delicious golden fried bites on its menu in 1865;
  • Giant clams are capable of reaching four feet in length and could weigh up to 500 pounds -- now that's a lot of clam chowder!

With a robust menu of delicious fried clams, fish 'n chips baskets, as well as grilled seafood items, salads and traditional favorites such as Ivar's award-winning chowder, Ivar's fast-casual Seafood Bars offer plenty of options to redeem the $5 "clam" dining certificate.
